VALO Awarded the Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award for Third Consecutive Year
August 31, 2014 South Jordan, Utah
Ultradent Products, Inc., a global manufacturer and distributor of dental materials and equipment, received The Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award for VALO, Ultradent’s curing light, for the third consecutive year. The award is the highest honor for innovation in dental curing lights. Each product honored as “Best of Class” features unique characteristics that differentiate it from the competition in a compelling way and, more importantly, creates value for the general dentist.
“Thank you to the Pride Institute, for recognizing VALO as the ‘Best in Class’ curing light for the 3rd year in a row! We are over the moon with excitement and gratitude about receiving this award by such an esteemed panel of clinicians,” said Suzanne Wilson, Senior Brand Marketing Manager. “VALO continues to impress clinicians with its durability, power and ability to deliver the required energy like no other curing light on the market. VALO is the only curing light with a truly blended and uniform beam across multiple wavelengths from 395-480nm. VALO has an unmatched beam profile showing consistent and uniform energy being delivered, even from a distance. This matters to clinicians because it illustrates the actual energy being delivered to the restoration versus something one dimensional, like the irradiance output from a radiometer.”
Of VALO’s third consecutive award, Dr. Lou Shuman, president of The Pride Institute and founder of the “Best of Class” Awards initiative stated that, “Our advisory panel determined after a year of research and testing that VALO is still the most advanced curing light on the market, which is why VALO was selected as the winner of The Pride Institute’s ‘Best of Class’ Technology Award for the third year in a row. This is nearly unprecedented, based on how rigorous the selection process is —which speaks to the progressive nature of VALO’s technology.”
The panel that selects the “Best of Class” winners consists of five dentists with significant knowledge of and experience in dental technology, including Dr. Shuman; John Flucke, DDS, writer, speaker and Chief Dental Editor for Dental Products Report; Paul Feuerstein, DMD, writer, speaker and Technology Editor for Dentistry Today ; Marty Jablow, DMD, technology writer and consultant for Dr. BiCuspid; and Parag Kachalia, DDS, Vice-Chair of Preclinical Education, Research and Technology, University of Pacific School of Dentistry.
VALO will be showcased at the “Tech Expo” Booth 4139 at the American Dental Association’s Annual Meeting from Oct. 9 to Oct. 14 in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about VALO by Ultradent Products, Inc., please call 800-552-5512, or visit www.valo-led.com.

Introducing Endo-Eze® FIND™ Apex Locator
August 6, 2014 SOUTH JORDAN, Utah
Ultradent Products, Inc. is proud to introduce the Endo-Eze FIND apex locator. Endo-Eze FIND is an electronic device used for apex localization and working-length determination during root canal treatment. FIND offers unsurpassed accuracy with a convenient, easy-to-read, full-color graphic display; audio feedback; and fully automatic multifrequency measurements. Thanks to its compact design and small footprint, FIND easily fits on any counter or treatment tray.
Clinical research shows that establishing the correct working length is critical for success in root canal therapy. When used in combination with radiographic measurements, an apex locator can significantly increase endodontic treatment success. One published in vivo study states: “Underestimation of the WL [Working Length] can lead to insufficient debridement of the root canal, whereas overestimation can result in damage to the periapical tissues, which will delay or prevent healing. . . . Furthermore, radiographs provide a two-dimensional image of a three-dimensional structure, which might affect the interpretation.”1 Another published study found that “working length ending radiographically 0 to 2 mm short of the radiographic apex does not guarantee that instrumentation beyond the apical foramen will be avoided. . . . Therefore radiographic working length measurements should be combined with electronic working length determination using modern apex locators.”2
